VR - Virtual Reality

WPA has added Virtual Reality (VR) to our portfolio of services.  Our clients can be immersed in a realistic setting, visualizing in 3D what the finished project will look like. Equipped with VR goggles our clients can explore the built environment of their project before the first nail is even placed. Every detail can be examined including how sunlight, environment and weather will affect the project.   Making real time dynamic changes to the building materials and finishes provides a close to real experience, helping clients evaluate each space.  VR provides greater design clarity and understanding that isn’t always understood with 2D plans and elevations.  VR makes the design come alive and become real to clients.

Our goal is to improve the relationship between clients, contractors, developers, and W+P Architecture, and to help reduce change orders between client and contractor.  WPA does this by creating 3D models of all current projects using Virtual Reality technology to enable full immersion and realistic project visualization.

Working with W+P Architecture has been very exciting, productive, and fruitful. However, experiencing the designs that were proposed to us in virtual reality took everything to and entirely different level. We were able to truly step into what was to come and it made us even more excited about the project itself. I highly recommend it.”

With the assistance of VR, clients can make better decisions, and once bids are received from the contractors, it is easier to make informed decisions about their project.  Something that might not seem as important on a flat, 2D plan takes on new importance when it is shown in 3D possibly with various design scenarios with and without it.  In this way, the relationship the architect has developed with the client helps to solve and deliver on their vision and needs for their project.  This becomes essential.

"After placing the VR headset clients and contractors are amazed with what they are experiencing.  They can walk through the spaces or teleport between areas, reviewing the design, furniture, equipment, paint colors, flooring, millwork, light fixtures - all in real time.  Contractors become more knowledgeable with what the client and architect want inside their project."

John Pizzarello, W+P Architecture

Contractors can gain more trust with managing and respecting the client’s budget.  When contractors propose value engineering suggestions to clients without understanding the impact fully, WPA can use VR to help them make the decision with a better understanding.   This improves the trust factor and the value of working with WPA.  Even with the best of intentions and the best contractors, details get missed. VR helps to explain the design in full spectrum to the builder and improves the accuracy of the building and streamlines the process.

Spending time to create videos and VR animations is essential to client satisfaction, which is why W+P Architecture uses this technology; to invest wisely and learn how to make the most of it.   WPA has witnessed its success and we are true believers in the power of this process.
